About Whitsunday Arabians
Whitsunday Arabians are proudly owned and managed by Geoff and
Cheryl Fuller and boasts Dual Registered
Arabian and Australian Stock Horse
champions.
|
Whitsunday Arabians, as the name suggests is situated in the idyllic
and picturesque region of Northern Queensland known as the
Whitsundays.
Our stud was
established in 1990 and is located in the
town of Proserpine where cane fields and
distinctive mountain ranges form a backdrop.
We currently have 3
stallions, 12 mares and annual foal breedings.
All are dual Arabian and Australian Stock
Horse registered. |
 |
The aim of whitsunday
Arabians is to breed a horse with great versatility and endurance;
to maintain the standard of a good riding horse which is also
able to compete in the halter ring.
The following
attributes are some of the criteria we strive for at our stud:
-
A horse with a length of reign which
virtually allows the horse to eat from the ground
without spreading its legs.
-
Large kind eyes, set wide apart in a
short head, with large jowls.
-
A long, sloping shoulder complimented
by relatively level canons (canons which are short
but not too short).
-
A large second thigh with a well
exposed stifle joint.
-
A depth of girth befitting a horse of
power and endurance, complimented by a good bone
structure.
-
A horse which is loving, intelligent
and an obedient creature.
-
A horse
which is enjoyable to ride in all gaits/paces
-
A well
balanced horse.
As with all
enterprises which are held close to the heart, we started small with 2 purebred
mares for each of our children and fell
in love with the breed. The initial 2 purchases (Balamara
Shamal s. Royal Gindi d. Kadisha Shlook and
KayBee Zadaa s. Bremervale Cointreau d. KayBee Zarah ) were thanks
to family friend Bob Mann; when asked
where we should purchase horses for our children he advised “They must be
Purebred Arabians”.
 |
Subsequent purchases can be linked with the cyclone season which
North Queensland used to experience a lot more regularly.
This led to an idle period in our work life and so we found
ourselves in Sydney.
Whilst there we visited
several Arabian Horse studs and returned home with a further 3 mares
from the Ralvon (Ralvon Gazelle s. Ralvon Pilgrim d.
Ralvon Yukhana) and Jaytee studs (Jaytee Silque
s. Royal Gindi d. Arabian Park Stately Queen and Odyssey
Minstrel s. Royal Gindi d. Jaytee Merindah).
On
our return home we realised that it would be
nice to have our own stallion and got in touch
with Ron and Val Males of the Ralvon stud. |
From this point we have
been rewarded with more than just a magnificent Stallion (Ralvon
Witness s. Manning Kadabbra d. Ralvon Silver Jubilee) but
also a wonderful friendship where we have been offered constant
advice and guidance from Ron and Val

Ralvon Witness
is very closely related to the successful Arabian under Saddle show mare Ralvon
Morning Star. He himself has been Champion under Saddle and Supreme Led
numerous times. Witness’ progeny excel under saddle and are of an
exceptional temperament. A tribute to this is our decision to retain at
stud Whitsunday Abiita (Son),
Whitsunday Melek
(Grandson) and we may also keep a Great Grandson, Whitsunday Majeed.
We also have the pleasure of owning a mare,
Whitsunday Ishtaha from Milex (IMP Sweden) X Ralvon Gazelle (dam
to Whitsunday Majeed).
All of our
foals are handled at an early stage, being educated to saddle at 2 years of age.
They accept the saddle readily, trusting the handler. They all have a
wonderful trusting temperament and are willing to please. |
